It's a Wonderland... of Pain

Porn is fantasy, just like the fantasy stories we read as kids. We know that these tales of wonderlands, fairies, knights, and dragons are not real, and neither is porn. What you see in porn is not reality. Just like dragons breathing fire and wizards casting fantastic spells are not real.

Kids often get caught up in the fantasylands of fairytales. What boy hasn’t made his blanket into a cape and dashed through his backyard with his plastic sword, fighting all sorts of mythical creatures? And what girl hasn’t dressed up like a beautiful princess, dreaming of her knight in shining armor?
For kids, these wonderland stories can be so powerful that they believe these worlds actually exist. Porn is also a wonderland that is just as unreal as wizards and dragons. Yet kids believe what they’re seeing is real. That the sex acts they’re watching are what girls really like, and it’s what they really want. The fact that these are actors and that it’s all make-believe is lost on them. They don’t see these porn actresses prepping their bodies before the cameras start rolling so they can better endure the pain some of these sex acts will cause them. To the kids watching, it looks like they are really enjoying it. But they don’t see the tears running down the actresses' faces when the cameras stop rolling and the lights go out. They don’t get to see them when the doctor tells them they have contracted a sexually transmitted disease (STD). All kids see is the wonderland. They don’t get to see the pain.
Pain is the real reality of porn. It’s pain for the actors in it, whether it’s physical or psychological. It’s pain for the viewers as it twists the reality of sex into an unattainable fantasy. It’s a fantasy that many will search for but will never find. They will dawn their cape and draw their plastic sword as they run through the backyard of their life chasing wizards and dragons they’ll never find. All the while, their true princess is heartbroken as she watches and waits for them to come back to reality.
Parents, don’t let your kids get lost in wonderland!
